We are getting SO close to the END!!!! This past week was fun completing all of the assignments surrounding our novels that we read. I hope that the assignments I did helps all of you kind of understand the longest book I have EVER read in my life, The Passage. Long but good. The assignments were fun this week because we had a wide range of assignments that we got to choose from. We just had to make sure we completed twelve stars and that one assignment was five stars. You can see all of my assignments under the tab: The Passage Assignments.
The evidence portion of this week was fun because I thought outside of the box when finding some evidence and I think what I found or figured out is something that is definitely happening around here at UMW.
Anyway, I enjoyed this week and I honestly can’t believe we are THIS close to the end of the semester!!
Question of the week:
The thing to my right is the only thing that I can use as a weapon to survive the apocalypse…this is pathetic, it is a water bottle. I mean I guess I can throw it at people when necessary to buy time so I can run away. I can also use it to drink water to stay hydrated. Honestly though, I don’t think a water bottle will help me survive.
So as I was thinking about evidence and what I could write about with some evidence that I believe is important…I came across this. A couple of weeks ago in a weekly video Professor Burtis was sick and coming down with something…this led her to canceling a showing by notifying us on Slack. Well, what if Professor Burtis is getting this apocalyptic virus? I have noticed in my classes lately that there have been fewer people each day, and there are many people coughing and sniffling, are they about to get hit with this virus also?
We need to keep our eyes open and be aware that our professor and peers may be getting this so we need to STAY AWAY. Obviously connecting over social media is okay because we don’t come in contact with anyone face to face, but I nor any of you should risk getting this virus. This is clearly evidence to this apocalypse that it is in fact spreading and it has hit UMW already. Just not everyone, and many seem to think it is allergies or a common cold, but I assume otherwise.
Be safe out there and don’t breathe in anyone’s air… 🙂
This is a two star assignment. I decided to do this because I thought it would be fun to be a six year old tweeting. I created two tweets that involve some things that happened in the book. I used the link under the assignment to create the tweets then I pasted them onto canva so I could add in the picture of Amy.
This is a five star assignment and man was it harder than I thought it was going to be. I decided to do this because I liked the original one and thought it would be fun to make a GIF book cover. Well, it was hard, but I did it. It is not the same image as my previous one so this is another alternative book cover, lots and lots of options for Justin Cronin if he ever wants to change the cover! I stuck with the tree theme but this time I included some rain. I downloaded a gif maker app that allowed me to make one!
Here is Amy Harper Bellafonte’s military facility ID where she is a test subject for this virus.
I decided to do this three star assignment because I wanted to create something for the main character of the book and this was the perfect opportunity to be creative with it at the same time. I googled pictures that seemed familiar and this was what I could find to best fit six year old Amy. I used Canva for this assignment!
This is the start of the 12 star assignments that I will be completing revolving around the book The Passage by Justin Cronin. This is a two star assignment and the meme I created is a confused, young girl and the meme is basically about her mom leaving her at a convent with a Sister. So one, her mom just abandons her and two, her mom leaves her to live with a stranger(s). I decided to use this picture because it is funny and it is a popular picture. Also, it seemed fitting for the situation that occurred in the book.
Can you believe it is week eleven?! I can’t. This means I am getting closer and closer to graduating, which is crazy! This week was a fun week. I started off watching The Quiet Earth and creating a genre mashup with a pop song added onto it. I then answered the ten apocalyptic questions and those were fun/funny. I did the six stars of video assignments because I chose path one. I also created two daily creates which were fun to do. Lastly, I did two daily creates this week!
The first one I did was the required story telling one, where we added on to the person in front of us tweet with a GIF. This was fun and after everyone did it and I looked at our story…it was quite funny and interesting.
The second daily create I did was the one where we had to create a playlist that we would listen to while escaping the apocalypse. Below is my playlist!
Question of the week:
If I hear on the radio that the end has started, I would immediately drive home and call my parents, siblings, and boyfriend to tell them to gather everything necessary. Then I would tell them to seek shelter all together and we would all stick together to survive the end together!
This week I uploaded two of my own daily creates and it was a lot of fun. Hopefully the entire class will be able to get to do one of them!
The first one I created was, Color Your Favorite Animal Your Favorite Color! This is where you take your favorite color and your favorite animal and mix them together. For example, my favorite animal is a turtle (specifically sea turtle) and my favorite color is blue. The result of this would be a blue turtle!
The second one I created was, Your Mood Today as a GIF! This is where you would find a GIF that describes your mood today perfectly. Here is what my mood is today:
These were a lot of fun to create and super easy for anyone to do!
This week I answered five out of the ten questions on this assignment. I used iMovie for this assignment and cropped each question and added my answer in between. Now, every answer may be truthful, but may be a little exaggerated. This was pretty fun to do and really easy to create.
This is another three star assignment to complete the six stars of video assignments. I enjoyed making this video because it gives you all a glimpse into my life growing up from the very beginning. It was a lot of fun making this video and you get to see a bunch of pictures of me when I was little.
I included pictures of my parents, brothers, boyfriend, and close friends. I of course included pictures of myself as well.
